Error Broadcast Collective 09 Beat Tape

For the producer, a beat tape functions like a black book for the graffiti writer: he develops his skills, he adventures himself to unknown artistic territory. The beat juggler compiles ideas, drafts and loops in a beat tape. Do not expect full-grown songs. The beauty of a beat tape lies in the incomplete.

The first installation in a series of beat tapes here at Error Broadcast is ABC Alphabeat, a compilation of raw and unpolished scribblings from Boom Bap to Wonky Rap, Dubstep and textural electronic music.

Behind ABC Alphabeat is three young German Rap cats, namely Swede:art, A-rec and Fuer.steps. While you might have heard of sir Swede:art for his Monday Jazz mix or his feature on Mishoo the Drumkit’s recent EP and A-rec who popped up in a Lucky Me mix, fella Fuer.steps is pretty virgin to the scene.

If you're into Electronic music, then knowingly or not, you've heard RQM's mellow voice at some point. Be it on the intro teaser for the Maryanne Hobb's BBC1 show or on the Jahcoozi, Stereotyp, Mochipet, Al Haca, Tolcha, Milanese or The Tape records. It's also possible that one of his tunes was on that DJ Shir Khan compilation, XLR8r Podcast or CLP mixtape that you found somewhere on the net. Or that you've downloaded his tunes from Diplo's Maddecent blog or heard it on the Sinden radio show. Chances are you probably even danced your ass off to one of the countless remixes of his tracks, while checking out the likes of DJ Mixhell, Jesse Rose, the Acid Jacks or Oliver$ . The point is - this multi-versed shape shifting emcee is practically ubiquitous. He done did it all - from cerebral Hip Hop, to abstract on-and-offbeat Spoken Word over Dub Step, mellow IDM infused Rock, Future Dub, Fidget - you name it. And what's important is that with every track he managed to flip his style, pattern and the color of his voice entirely and created something completely new in effect. Over 30 features and counting, shows alongside the likes of Missy Elliot, M.I.A., The Rapture, Peter Kruder, Kool Keith and The Cool Kids and RQM says he's finally ready to release his solo Opus.
